Hans Schiler ist der deutsche Pionier als Verleger arabischer Literatur und Sachbücher zur arabischen Welt und zum Islam. Zu einer Zeit, als man die Islamwissenschaft noch als universitäres Orchideenfach bezeichnete eröffnete Hans Schiler 1977 in Berlin Verlag und Buchladen "Das arabische Buch". Seit nunmehr fast fünf Jahrzehnten publiziert Hans Schiler unermütlich arabische Literatur. Hinzugekommen ist Tim Mücke. Die Backlist ist gewaltig und vermittelt einen guten Überblick über Literatur und Politik der arabischen Welt. Das Gespräch wurde 2002 geführt.

🎓 Stefan Fuchs (Wissenschaftsjournalist) im Gespräch mit Noam Chomsky. Das 2002 am MIT geführte Gespräch mit Noam Chomsky über den amerikanischen Krieg gegen den Terror. Noam Chomsky ist der prominenteste us-amerikanische Kritiker des Kapitalismus. Geboren 1928 in Philadelphia veröffentlichte der Sprachwissenschaftler, politischer Aktivist und Publizist mehr als 150 Monographien. Seine Beiträge reichen von der Linguistik über Psychologie zu politischen Schriften. In letzteren bezog er Position gegen die US-amerikanische Außenpolitik. Innenpolitisch unterstützt er den linken Demokraten Bernie Sanders, er wirft der Internationalen Politik das Scheitern in der Klimakrise vor, kritisiert die nationalistisch-rechtsgerichtete Politik Israels und fordert  internationale Unterstützung für die Rechte der Palästinenser. In dem Gespräch wird die Beziehung zwischen den USA und der EU diskutiert. Das Gespräch wurde 1999 in Boston am Massachusetts-Institut für Technologie (MIT) im Büro von Noam Chomsky aufgenommen.

The conversation will discuss the relationship between the US and the EU. Die Ärztin Sima Samar war ab 2001 Ministerin für Frauenangelegenheiten in Afghanistan und ab 2002 Vorsitzende der afghanischen Menschenrechtskommission. 2021, kurz vor der Machtübernahme der "Neuen Taliban" floh Sie in die USA. Sie ist Trägerin des Alternativen Nobelpreises 2012. Sima Samar spricht 2012 über die Perspektiven Afghanistans nach dem vorgesehen Rückzug der ISAF Truppen. Ein historischer aufschlussreicher Blick auf eine politische Situation eines vom Westen zunächst eroberten und im Folgenden fallen gelassen Landes.
🎓 Sima Samar in conversation with Christoph Burgmer. Sima Samar, a doctor, was Minister of Women's Affairs in Afghanistan from 2001 and Chair of the Afghan Human Rights Commission from 2002. In 2021, shortly before the "New Taliban" took power, she fled to the USA. In 2012, Sima Samar talks about the prospects of Afghanistan after the planned withdrawal of ISAF troops. A historical, revealing look at the political situation of a country first conquered by the West and subsequently abandoned.

Cem Özdemir: „Migration - Migration - Göç.“

🎓 Christoph Burgmer im Gespräch mit Cem Özdemir (geb. 1965). Cem Özdemir war der erste Bundestagsabgeordnete mit türkischem Migrationshintergrund. Der Politiker wurde 1965 in Urach geboren, seine Eltern stammen aus Pazar in der Türkei. Er absolvierte eine Erzieherausbildung und ein Sozialpädagogikstudium, trat 1981 den Grünen bei und beantragte mit 18 die deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft. Von 2004-2009 war er Abgeordneter im Europaparlament. In dieser Zeit entstand das Interview. Cem Özdemir spricht über persönliche Erfahrungen der Migration, des Rassismus und von der Türkei als zukünftigen Mitglied der Europäischen Union.
