Auf dem Weg in eine andere Moderne" 1986 einer ganzen Generation nicht nur in Deutschland (Das Buch ist in 35 Sprachen übersetzt) überdeutlich vor Augen, dass die Zerstörung von Umwelt und Natur, wie sie der Club of Rome schon schon 1972 mit seinem Bericht zu den "Grenzen des Wachstums" formuliert hatte, weder vor Staatsgrenzen, noch vor Klassengrenzen halt macht. Die Menschheit steht in der globalisierten, kapitalistischen Plünderungsgesellschaft vor der Selbstvernichtung. Sollte es ein Überleben geben, werden nationalistische und national-sozialistische Politiker wir Donald Trump, Putin, Modi oder Xiu Jinping in dieser Zukunft rückblickend als Terroristen in die Geschichte eingehen. Ulrich Beck lehrte in München, London und Paris. Er verfasste 2012 zusammen mit Daniel Cohn-Bendit das Manifest "Wir sind Europa". Darin formulierten sie einen Gegenentwurf zum kapitalistischen Europa der Gegenwart.

Der deutsch-österreichische Soziologe Michael Daxner war schon seit den 70er Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts in Afghanistan aktiv. Nach Jahren des Engagements für Afghanistan nach der Befreiung von den Taliban wird die Frustration über die Internationale Staatengemeinschaft in diesem Gespräch überdeutlich. Afghanistan mutierte nach dramtischen Fehleinschätzungen zu Beginn der Besetzung später zum operativen Versuchsfeld neuer Waffentechnologien wie Drohnen und Uranminition. Insbesondere die Bundeswehr profitierte logistisch und sammelte Kampferfahrung in der jahrlangen Besetzung. Nach dem Abzug der Besatzungsarmeen hatten die Afghanen ihre Schuldigkeit getan. Heute warten Zehntausende auf den versprochenen Flüchtlingsstatus besonders in Deutschland. Pakistan hat 2025 damit begonnen, diese Flüchtlinge wieder zurück zu den Taliban nach Afghanistan abzuschieben.

After years of commitment to Afghanistan following its liberation from the Taliban, his frustration with the international community becomes abundantly clear in this conversation. After dramatic misjudgements at the beginning of the occupation, Afghanistan later mutated into a testing ground for new weapons technologies such as drones and uranium ammunition. The German Armed Forces in particular benefited logistically and gained combat experience during the years of occupation. After the occupying armies withdrew, the Afghans had done their duty. Today, tens of thousands are waiting for the promised refugee status, especially in Germany. Pakistan began deporting these refugees back to the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2025.
مایکل بریفس (ژورنالیست کلتوری) در گفتگو با مایکل داکسنر (متولد 1947). مایکل داکسنر، جامعه شناس آلمانی- اتریشی از دهه هفتاد خورشیدی در افغانستان فعالیت داشته است. پس از سالها تعهد به افغانستان در پی رهایی آن از دست طالبان، نا امیدی او از جامعه جهانی در این گفت‌وگو به وفور آشکار می‌شود. به تعقیب محاسبات نادرست دراماتیک در آغاز اشغال، افغانستان بعداً به یک میدان آزمایشی عملیاتی برای تکنالوژی های جدید تسلیحاتی مانند هواپیماهای بدون سرنشین و مهمات یورانیم جهش یافت. بوندسویر، به ویژه، از نظر لوجستیکی بهره مند شد و در جریان سال های اشغال تجربه جنگی را بدست آورد. بعد از خروج قوای اشغالگر، افغان ها وظیفه خود را انجام داده بودند. امروز، ده ها هزار نفر منتظر وضعیت پناهنده وعده داده شده، به ویژه در آلمان هستند. پاکستان در سال 2025 شروع به اخراج این پناهندگان به طالبان در افغانستان کرد. وضعیت پناهنده وعده داده شده توسط سیاستمداران حاکم از آنها رد می شود.

Daneben engagierte sich Edward Said  für die Palästinenser. Edward Said lehnte eine Zwei-Staaten-Lösung für Israel und Palästina ab forderte die Errichtung eines Nicht-zionistischen Staates indem Palästinenser und Juden gleichberechtigt miteinander leben. Edward Said gründete mit Daniel Barenboim und Bernd Kauffmann das weltberühmte West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.

Er war 1960 Gründungsmitglied und Herausgeber der New Left Review, von 1969 bis 1978 Direktor des ”Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies” an der Unversität Birmingham und unterrichtete später an der 1969 gegründeten Open Univercity mit Sitz in Milton Keynes nördlich von London, der größten Universität Großbritanniens. Il a été membre fondateur et éditeur de la New Left Review en 1960, directeur du « Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies » à l’université de Birmingham de 1969 à 1978 et a ensuite enseigné à l’Open Univercity, fondée en 1969 et située à Milton Keynes au nord de Londres, la plus grande université de Grande-Bretagne.
