🎓 Christoph Burgmer im Gespräch mit Samir Amin (1931-2018).  Der ägyptisch-französische Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Philosoph Samir Amin gehörte zu den herausragenden Kritikern des Neokolonialismus und der kapitalistischen Globalisierung am Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts. Samir Amin schuf den Begriff des "Eurozentrismus" und bezeichnete damit ein globales Projekt, dass mit der Eroberung Amerikas durch Christoph Kolumbus seinen Anfang nahm und in verschiedenen Phasen bis in die Gegenwart andauert. Ziel des "Eurozentrismus" ist Aufrechterhaltung -der Unterwerfung der Peripherien, -der globalen Ausbeutung von Kulturen und Natur und - der politischen Vormachtstellung kapitalistischer Zentren. Dieses 2004 im indischen Mumbai geführte Gespräch fragt nach den Bedingungen und Folgen US-amerikanischer globaler Hegemonie.

Samir Amin created the term ‘Eurocentrism’ to describe a global project that began with the conquest of America by Christopher Columbus and has continued in various phases up to the present day. The aim of ‘Eurocentrism’ is to maintain -the subjugation of the peripheries, - the global exploitation of cultures and nature and - the political supremacy of capitalist centres. Er gilt als Erfinder des Begriffs ”Thacherismus” und als Begründer der ”Cultural Studies”. Er erforschte Zusammenhänge von Kultur, Macht und Identitäten. Stuart Hall hat zwar 17 Ehrendoktortitel, selbst jedoch nie promoviert. Er war 1960 Gründungsmitglied und Herausgeber der New Left Review, von 1969 bis 1978 Direktor des ”Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies” an der Unversität Birmingham und unterrichtete später an der 1969 gegründeten Open Univercity mit Sitz in Milton Keynes nördlich von London, der größten Universität Großbritanniens.
